I know I know, you turn up at a restaurant or burger joint STARVING. So when the waiter or whoever asks you what size meal you’d like, you go for large, or even super size! Don’t feel bad, it always seems like better value but you have to change your mindset. Here’s why. Even though it seems like better value, every time you order a large meal instead of a medium you are making your life harder. More calories = more time, money and effort that needs to be spent to lose that fat. Don’t ruin your Six pack abs diet by falling prey to those greedy marketers that want to keep you fat.

3. Eat a Big Breakfast, a Decent Lunch, and a Light Dinner

We have some funny habits in the west don’t we? Why do we usually skip breakfast, denying ourselves food after 6-8 hours of starvation during sleep, then eat our largest meal at the end of the day when we are winding down? Seem unwise to you? Well it is. It has been statistically shown that people that have breakfast are much less likely to eat junk food during the day, and are therefore skinnier and healthier than they breakfast skipping counterparts. Some also theorize that it helps your metabolism speed up, but in my experience it just satisfies my appetite so that come lunch time, I can eat something reasonable instead of stuffing my face.

So many people believe that once you do enough crunches and abdominal exercises, you will get those visible abs in no time. But that is not the case. Since the muscle has no link whatsoever to the layer of fat hiding it. Even if you have the strongest abs, it will never become visible once there is a layer of fat covering.

Now that will know that crunches and abdominal exercises are not the solution, so what should you do? The first thing you have to do is check your diet. All you have to do is start with the basics.

1. Always have protein served with every meal. Since protein speeds up metabolism than carbohydrates and fat. Proteins such as fish, eggs, meat and nut.

2. Always have fruits and vegetables served with every meal. The advantage of having fruits and/or vegetables served with every meal is that you will feel full without having the fear of it turning to excessive fat in your body.

3. Always have a large amount of breakfast and a little amount of dinner. Why? It takes less time for food to digest when you are active during the day than when you are in bed.

4. Only take drinks that are calories free such as water, green tea, diet pop, etc. (drink at least 5 litres of water daily).

After taking care of the diet basics, you then move to the strength training basics.

1. Make sure you engage in resistance training weekly.

2. Include joint lower body weight training programs such as squats, deadlifts and lunges.

3. Include joint upper body programs such as pushups, overhead presses and rows.

Following the basics will only help you have a good body shape and a flat stomach. The next thing to do is to move on to the advanced level.

You will have to track your progress to know when the basic tips stop working. To track your progress it will be better if you have access to a fat body tester and if you do not, you can weigh yourself and check you waist line every week. This will help you determine when you have to move on to the advanced level.
